Jeju's organic-search share of travel planning sessions fell 29.2 percentage points in seven days, sliding from a 53.2% four-week baseline to 24.0% in the latest weekly print, per our travel intelligence network. That is a compression of the organic channel to roughly 45% of its prior weight in the mix, and it happened inside a single reporting week. For a destination where organic had been the majority channel, the mix is now inverted: non-organic sources account for 76.0% of planning activity, up from 46.8% a week earlier.
The pattern
The movement is a channel-mix event, not a demand statement. Organic search, which had contributed 53.2% of Jeju planning sessions across the trailing four weeks, contributed 24.0% in the most recent seven-day window. The delta, negative 29.2 percentage points, is large enough that it cannot be explained by ordinary week-to-week noise around the baseline.
Two shapes of week can produce a fall of this size. One is an organic collapse against a shrinking total, in which case the destination is simply losing planning interest. The other is an organic share dilution against a rising or stable total, in which case a non-organic channel (referral, social, paid, or direct) has surged and mathematically crowded organic down in the mix. The framing note attached to this reading points to the second shape as the usual explanation when totals hold. But the current data slice does not itself resolve which shape applies to Jeju this week.
What the network does show unambiguously is that the composition of Jeju's inbound planning traffic looks structurally different than it did seven days ago.
What the data states, not what it implies
Right now, per our panel, Jeju is a destination whose planning traffic is being sourced predominantly outside of organic search. Non-organic channels are carrying roughly three-quarters of the current session mix, versus slightly under half across the four-week baseline. Organic, historically the dominant acquisition channel for Jeju in this panel, is currently the minority channel.
That is the descriptive present. It does not, on its own, tell us whether Jeju's total planning volume is up, flat, or down; it does not identify which non-organic channel absorbed the share. And it does not name a trigger. No campaign, route announcement, or policy change is visible in this dataset. For industry readers, the operationally relevant read is narrow and specific: any dashboard, attribution model, or budget assumption that treats Jeju as an organic-led destination is, as of this week's print, working from a mix that no longer matches reality. Whether that mismatch is a one-week artifact or the start of a re-based channel structure is the question the next reading answers, not this one.
Open questions
The following data points, on their next weekly readings, will confirm or falsify the pattern:
- Whether Jeju's total planning session volume in the next print is materially different from the four-week baseline. A stable total alongside sustained low organic share supports the referral or social spike interpretation; a falling total supports an organic collapse interpretation.
- Whether the organic share recovers toward the 53.2% baseline in the following week, holds near 24.0%, or falls further. A single-week dip that reverts is a different pattern than a re-based mix.
- Which non-organic channel (referral, social, paid, or direct) is carrying the additional share in the next reading. The current data slice does not decompose the 76.0% non-organic block.
- Whether other destinations in the same regional set show a comparable organic-share compression in the same week. A shared movement points to a platform or algorithm effect. An isolated movement points to something Jeju-specific.
- Whether the shift is symmetrical across planning intents (accommodation, activities, transport) or concentrated in one category. The current reading is a single aggregate figure.
Until those readings arrive, the honest statement is the one the data supports: Jeju's planning traffic mix changed sharply in seven days, the organic channel is currently doing less than half the work it was doing a month ago, and the cause is not identified in this dataset.
Methodology
Data comes from Prospxct's proprietary travel intelligence panel, a network of 500+ destination-specific travel planning sites, each covering a single city, country, or region. All sites run on an unified analytics stack, allowing us to compare relative traffic patterns across destinations on a like-for-like basis.
For this study, we compare each destination's most recent 7-day organic-search share against its trailing 4-week baseline, surfacing destinations whose organic share is materially rising or falling against their own history.
We report percentages, ratios, and rankings, not absolute traffic volumes. All data reflects observed planning behaviour (users actively researching activities and logistics), not booking transactions or airport arrivals.
